Study: Kéan Coffee

For those who would like to escape the corporate feel of Starbucks, Kéan Coffee is a good option. It has a more eclectic atmosphere, similar to the now-closed Paradise Perks. Kéan Coffee boasts great coffee and organic loose-leaf teas. It also has a decent sized non-coffee menu that includes “non-coffee steamers” and a variety of hot chocolates. The biggest drawbacks are limited seating and no Wi-Fi. I know that the lack of internet access will be a deal breaker for many, but imagine how much reading you could get done without Facebook.

Food: Lucille’s BBQ Smokehouse

Last month, I told you where to find delicious eggs benedict. This month, indulge in some fantabulous barbeque at Lucille’s BBQ Smokehouse. Lucille’s has strong drinks, heavenly biscuits, house-made BBQ sauce, and lip-smacking barbeque. Please note that this is not a place for vegetarians or vegans. If you are looking to avoid the law school 15 (or 30), you should limit consumption to once a month. Meals are a little pricey, but portions are huge and can be easily shared or split into multiple meals.

Important details: Happy hour is from 3pm to 7pm on weekdays and from 9pm to close everyday. On weekends, the restaurant hosts a live blues band that is actually very talented.
